It's a very old theatre, which serves a dual purpose of screening cinemas and other shows. They have barely maintained the theatre. The seats are rickety and toilets smells. The sound system is pretty outdated. My stereo system at home produces better sound than this. Once it became a parcel of Event cinemas, one would expect it to be a bit better, alas nothing like that has happened. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Parking is another big headache, only street parking available and you need plenty of luck to find one nearby.

Cult and foreign film nights are great, unique experience that I have not found anywhere else in town. However, the cinema itself could do with being refurbished as the seats are hardly comfortable, and the screens are a little small for a modern cinema. Overall, it's a good experience and worth it for the unique films they screen.

Friendly service and even sells beer and wine to enjoy during your movie. Choose your seat carefully as this is an old cinema and some of the seating has seen better days. Ticket price is higher than the big theatres but this cinema is very convenient if you are staying or live in downtown Newcastle.

Ever wanted to know what going to the cinema was like in the 1980's? No need to wonder any more.... Entering this cinema is like going through a time warp. Small low back vinyl chairs, tiny screens by modern standards, and a seating capacity that nears on 1000 People in each of the 4 theatres. That said the complex is In excellent condition, and very clean. No free parking during the day can make this an expensive outing if Coming by car.

This place is a blast from the past from the 70s, which is quirky and I have been here many time over many years, BUT: The seats are also from the 1970s and are extremely uncomfortable, a lot of them a broken in some way - springs are gone - or they tilt at an angle. The screen size is small compared to modern cinemas. The ticket price of $15 is expensive compared to the modern cinemas in Charlestown which are under $10. Last night all four of us saw a rat crawl along the bottom of the screen. Last night there was a vomit smell that wafted over us every minute or so - it was very unpleasant. I told the manager after the movie finished - but I don't think I will be going back.

the staff are great, friendly and helpful. the seating and general fittings need an update for sure. I've been going to this theatre for over 30 years. so despite its problems I will support it and it's the only remaining cinema in Newcastle city. compared to the soulless cinema factory experience of the mall Cinemas it's basic but at least I can find my car and get out of the park without going through a maze.

My partner and I frequent this as our favourite cinema... It's definitely not the flashest or most modern, but it's nostalgic and romantic. When your sitting in those old vinyl seats and the lights dim down, you can feel a little magic - I hope it never changes.

Parking is a bother, screens are small, but the choice of movies are really good. Try to sit in the middle rear, as anything else ruins it if someone tall sits in front of you. Cinema is clean and well kept. Staff are friendly and professional.
